our conversation went something like this:

...all day long.

blue: "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhmomma."
(arriving 6 am in arms of big brother, whose turn it is to get up with him, but who isn't "feeling it" this morning.)

me: "hi, baby," (eyes closed), "you wanna nurse?"

blue: "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmomma." (squirreling between our sheets and nuzzling into me.)

a few minutes later, finished, i think.

blue: "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahmomma."

me: "what, baby, you feel yuck?"

blue: (more insistent, yanking at my shirt, demanding more.
daddy has rolled practically off the bed to get some space.) "nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhmomma!"

me: (eyes closed. getting grumpy. gotta stop staying up so late/early!) "what, baby? all done."

blue: "ooooooooooooooooooooooooooohmomma!" (no longer sweet; quite perturbed.)

me: (can you hide under the covers when the "seeker" is under there, too?)
"what, baby boy? you wanna watch a show?"
(can't remember what comes on at this hour, but i'm sure it's educational with no objectionable content and my resolve has withered...)

blue: (not taking "all done" for an answer.) "nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhmomma!!!"

me: no words needed. we're nursing again.

baby boy isn't feeling too hot today. or yesterday. this routine repeated itself (minus the comfy bed, of course) about every hour and a half... interrupted by a few alternative calls for "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanna!"
she's happy to be his "other momma." we kept at it, stopping a couple times for catnaps, until we gave up and hit the park. where he wrapped himself around my leg for an hour.

we came home and threw together dinner for sweet dad and the kids; i had photography mentoring tonight.

during which time blue was perfectly happy to run around and watch dad play guitar hero world tour on the wii with the bigs.

and i wouldn't trade this day for a million "easy" ones.

geocache!

as my love for photography grows, i find i am studying Papa's creation so much more intently. i love the subtle differences in reds in unknown berries. i am awed at the shadows cast by the late afternoon sun, and the rays glistening through the varying shades of green leaves. the kids point out the interesting outline in the sky made by the live oak... and isaac makes me giggle out loud as he slaps back the branches and gingerly sidesteps holes made by mysterious animals (snakes? turtles?).
there's something so amazing about trooping through palmetto bushes, stepping carefully around cacti (wow, we had no idea there were so many around here!), and following all my favorite people through sand and brush...

amidst all this, we stop to be amazed by the creativity of some person who's taken the time to glue or plaster real wood bark onto a pvc pipe with screw-on lid, inside of which is a long skinny strip of paper filled with the names of complete strangers who've signed the log in this "byop" cache! (go to www.geocaching.com to learn what byop means.)

we got a super fun toy for Christmas... well, daddy did, but the whole family is enjoying it. we now own our very own GPS - and we're taking great advantage of it to explore the geocache "stash" near our home. in one of our favorite parks near here we've discovered 4 caches so far, and we'd guess there are at least 20 left to discover! here are some pictures from our latest adventure.

Strawberry Picking!!

Well, I'm going back and posting some recent adventures... this was our fabulous and fun day of strawberry picking with some homeschool friends. It was much cooler than when we went last year - of course last year, I was very pregnant... this year we had our little Isaac OUTSIDE the tummy! Next year he'll be able to eat his strawberries himself - I'm sure he can't wait!
